Frozen Food
Packaging systems engineered for frozen and fresh food products. Weighing and bagging solutions that perform reliably in cold environments with products ranging from vegetables to prepared meals.
Frozen and fresh production asks a packaging line to be fast, gentle and cleanable at once. Hastamat engineers for that combination, with hygienic machine design developed for wet areas and weighing that stays precise on cold, wet product.
What the environment asks of the line
- Cold, wet product moves differently from dry product, so contact surfaces and product paths are selected for clean release.
- Seal integrity depends on a clean, dry seal area, so ice and free water are managed at the sealing jaws by design.
- Condensation is predictable where cold product meets warmer air, and layout, enclosures and drainage are specified for it.
- Materials and finishes are chosen for wash-down chemistry, so the machine holds its condition through years of daily cleaning.
Hygienic design, engineered in from the start
A machine built for wet areas is designed around drainage, sealed bearings, cable entries and the separation of electrical enclosures from the product zone. Hastamat developed a hygienic design concept specifically for fresh and frozen production, so the machine is quick to clean on a daily regime and holds its condition over a long service life. That engineering depth is one of the reasons PPT USA puts Hastamat in front of plants that wash down every day.
Protecting free-flowing IQF product
IQF product is individually frozen so it stays free-flowing, and the line's job is to deliver it to the bag in that condition. Gentle transfer, cold surfaces and controlled accumulation keep the pieces separate, which is what lets a multihead weigher portion them accurately at rate.
Where PPT USA starts
With your cleaning regime, your product temperature at the packaging area and the pack you need on the shelf. Those inputs shape the hygienic specification, and we work them through with Hastamat before recommending a configuration. Frozen and IQF packaging covers what cold and wet change across the whole line.
Machines for Frozen Food
- CP Hygienic Design Weigher Hastamat's wet-area multihead weigher, developed for fresh and frozen food production with stainless contact parts and a separated control cabinet.
- CP Series Multihead Weigher Hastamat's scalable combination weigher, with up to 24 weighing hoppers and up to 240 weighing procedures per minute.
- R/RM Series Vertical Form Fill Seal Hastamat's all-purpose bagmaker: up to 250 bags per minute across the widest span of bag styles and products in the Hastamat range.
- R-600 Large-Format Bagging Machine Hastamat's large-format bagmaker for bulk packs and heavy films, taking bag widths up to 600 mm and volumes up to 25,000 cubic centimeters.

Hygienic Design, Installation and Training
Dennis Feldbusch and Thomas Bornemann, Hastamat
Thomas Bornemann says hygienic design reduces cleaning time and therefore downtime, and that Hastamat's hygienic design is visible from the first second compared with other suppliers; Hastamat vertical machines are hygienically designed, and its weighers are offered at different levels of hygienic design.
Common questions
- Can we just add stainless steel to a standard machine?
- Hastamat builds a hygienic-design machine for this environment, and that is the most direct route to a line your team can clean with confidence. Wet-area design covers drainage, sealed bearings, cable entries and keeping electrical enclosures out of the product zone, and it is engineered into the machine from the start. Your wash-down frequency, your cleaning chemistry and your water pressure are the inputs that set how far that specification goes. Tell PPT USA your cleaning regime and we will confirm the right hygienic configuration with Hastamat.
- Our product clumps. Can a weigher still portion it?
- Yes. Multihead weighing portions free-flowing frozen product accurately at production rates, and keeping product free-flowing is something the line can be designed to do. Clumping usually starts with temperature and handling upstream of the weigher, so it is addressed in the line instead of compensated for in the pack. Product temperature at the packaging area, transfer design and accumulation time are the variables that keep pieces separate. Send PPT USA the product and its temperature at the infeed and we will configure the weighing and handling around it with Hastamat.
Packaging frozen food?
Tell us the product and the pack you need. We will come back with the architecture that fits, a realistic sustained-output figure and what is worth proving on a sample first.

Thank you. That is with our team.
We read every one of these ourselves. Expect a reply from a person who has specified this kind of line before.
