Baked products are weighed/counted in a Hastamat handling system.
Application

Bakery & Baked Goods

Gentle handling and precise wrapping for sticks-like pretzels, meat sticks, cookies, wafers, chocolate, confectionery, bakery and consumer goods, and dry baked goods. Flow wrapping and weighing systems that maintain product integrity at high speeds.

Baked goods are made to be fragile and sold to arrive intact. A bakery packaging line is judged on how gently it moves product, from the cooling tunnel all the way to the case.

Most of that protection is won in the run between the cooling tunnel and the pack, at the transfers, the collation and the infeed to the wrapper. Design that path well and product is packaged looking the way it left the oven.

Stack and wrap, or weigh and bag?

A stacked bar flow wrapped into a rigid pack protects the product well and presents as a premium item. The collation is where the engineering earns its keep, and LoeschPack builds the buffering, feeding, distribution and collating equipment alongside the wrapper, so the stack arrives neat, correctly counted and at pitch.

Weighing a loose quantity into a bag sets up quickly and easily handles product variation. How the product enters the bag is a configuration input, so drop height and transfer methods are specified around the delicate properties of the product.

What protects the product

  • A short, direct path from the oven to the pack, with every transfer designed for gentle handling.
  • Gentle collation, so the stack reaches the wrapper neat, correctly counted and intact.
  • Buffering that absorbs surges upstream, so the line holds a steady rate across the shift.
  • A wrapper fed at a steady pitch, which is how a flow wrapper holds its output and its pack quality together.

Where Piepenbrock Packaging starts

With the product itself: diameter, thickness, weight and how it behaves in handling. Send Piepenbrock Packaging a sample and the pack you need, and we will work the line back from the wrapper with LoeschPack and Hastamat. Cookie, biscuit and wafer packaging covers the fragility handling in detail.

Common questions

Where does our breakage come from?
Most of it is recoverable, and usually without replacing the packaging machine. Damage typically traces to transfers, accumulation and lane changes ahead of the wrapper or bagmaker, which are the points a well designed line controls. Piece size, weight and the path from the cooling tunnel set how gentle the handling has to be. Tell PPT USA where you see damage and we will work the line back with LoeschPack or Hastamat and specify the handling that protects the piece.
Fixed count or sold by weight?
Both routes are well served, and the choice sets the architecture. A fixed count points to collation and flow wrapping, where LoeschPack builds the feeding and wrapping equipment as one system. A pack sold by weight points to Hastamat multihead weighing into a vertical bagmaker, which changes over quickly across SKUs. Your count tolerance, piece variation and target output decide which one fits. PPT USA can size both against your volumes and confirm the configuration with the manufacturer.
